Men O\' War Defeat Arkansas in Weekend Finale

Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War defeated Arkansas on Sunday night to salvage two points from a 3-game home stand. The Men O' War dropped the first two games of the weekend to Cincinnati and Johnstown. On Sunday, the MOW bounced back to defeat the Southwest Division leading Arkansas Riverblades. This week the MOW travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday and Dayton on Friday.

Friday, November 15th – Cincinnati 4, at Lexington 2

Cincinnati downed the Men O' War by a final of 4-2 on Friday at Rupp Arena. The MOW fell behind in the first period and never recovered. Ryan Gaucher scored on the power play to give the 'Clones a 1-0 lead in the first. Cincinnati never looked back defeating the MOW for the second time in a week. Adriano Fiacconi scored for the MOW in the second, and Mark Smith continued his scoring streak with a third period tally.

Saturday, November 16th–Johnstown 3, at Lexington 1

The MOW fell at home 3-1 to Johnstown. Vladimir Nemec's slap shot from the high slot in the second period beat Lexington's Dan Murphy for the eventual game winner. Lexington lost for the second straight time at home by two goals. Dominic Periard scored his first goal of the season for the lone Lexington goal.

Sunday, November 17th –at Lexington 2, Arkansas 1

The Men O' War downed the Arkansas Riverblades 2-1 on Sunday night. Joe Vandermeer and Fraser Clair provided the offense. Vandermeer scored his second goal of the season in the first period, and Clair added his second goal of the season in the second period. Dan Murphy was solid in goal stopping 27 of 28 Riverblade shots.

Smith recalled to Utah Mike Smith was recalled to Utah before Saturday's game. Smith started in net for the MOW on Friday. He stopped 15 of 19 Cincinnati shots in a 4-2 defeat. This is Smith's second trip to Utah this season. Smith was recalled on October 21 and returned to Lexington on October 24. In his previous stint in Utah, Smith did not play a game. The Men O' War added goaltender Edgars Eihvalds as an emergency back-up to take Smith's spot.

Upcoming Games ......

The Men O' War play two road games this week against Northwest Division rivals. The trip starts on Wednesday in Cincinnati, the Cyclones lead the season series two games to none. Five Cyclones players have tallied a point per game against Lexington this season including Mike Henderson who has four assists in two games this year against the MOW. Mark Smith and Van Burgess have each tallied four points in two games against the Cyclones. On Friday, the Men O' War make the trip to Dayton to take on the Bombers. Lexington has defeated Dayton in both of the team's previous meetings. In the two games, the teams have combined for 172 penalty minutes. Shane Bendera has a 1.52 GAA and a .932 save percentage in his two games against Lexington this season.
