Storm Sweep Men from Playoff Picture

Lexington, KY-The Men O' War finished their season after being swept by the Toledo Storm in the Northwest Division Semi-Finals 3-0. Lexington lost Game One 9-1 on Wednesday night. Friday, Toledo shut out Lexington 3-0. The Storm concluded Lexington's season with a 5-1 win on Saturday night.

Game One- Northwest Division Semi-Finals
Toledo Takes 1-0 Series Lead

Toledo, OH – The Lexington Men O' War began a best of five road playoff series on Wednesday night against the Toledo Storm with an embarrassing 9-1 loss. The Storm showed why they had the best overall record in the league as Doug Teskey dominated Lexington with a 32 save performance. Toledo's Eric Anderson took care of offense scoring twice in the first period and assisting on three other goals as Toledo took a 1-0 lead in the series. The Line of Jeff Mitchell, Anderson, and Jim Brown combined for 12 points on the night. Van Burgess scored the lone Lexington goal in the second period.

Game Two- Northwest Division Semi-Finals
Toledo Takes 2-0 Series Lead

Toledo, OH – The Toledo Storm once again handed the Lexington Men O' War their second straight loss at the Toledo Sports Arena for a 2-0 series lead. Toledo's Doug Teskey stopped all 39 Lexington shots en route to a 3-0 Storm win. Tim Verbeek, Matt Ellis, and Dale Junkin all scored for the Storm in the win. Lexington's Dan Murphy stopped 35 of 38 Storm shots in the loss.

Saturday, April 5th-Lexington 1 at Toledo 5
Game Three- Northwest Division Semi-Finals
Toledo Wins Series 3-0

Toledo, OH – The Toledo Storm put an abrupt and disappointing end to the Lexington Men O' War's season with 3-2 series clinching win over the Men. The regular season champs enjoyed key goals from Jim Brown and Jeff Johnstone as well as more stellar goaltending from Doug Teskey as they advance to the Northwest Division Finals with the 3-0 series sweep. Lexington's goal came from Brett Draney as Mike Smith took Lexington's final loss of the season in net stopping 28 of 32 Storm shots. The Storm will meet the Cincinnati Cyclones in the Northwest Division Finals.

Playoff Tracks

Brett Draney and Van Burgess scored the only two Lexington goals in the series. Only Mike Sgroi, Dominic Periard and Ben Storey picked up a point. Burgess finished the series with two points (1G-1A) in three games...Lexington only scored two goals in the three game series as Toledo's Doug Teskey stopped 108 of 110 Lexington shots. His 0.67 goals against average and .982 save percentage lead all ECHL goaltenders in the playoffs.... Toledo's Erik Anderson led all scorers in the series with seven points ( 3G-4A) in three games.

Regular Season - MOW Tracks

Van Burgess finished the season as the Men's leading scorer. Burgess recorded 55 points (21g, 34a) in 71 games to lead the MOW in points...Mark Smith lead the team in goals with 22 markers in 65 games. Smith also finished second in points with 54...Joe Vandermeer finished the season as the seventh highest scoring defenseman in the Coast with 51 points (9g, 42a)...Ben Storey's 18 goals are the second most goals amongst ECHL d-men, and Storey finished first among defensemen with 293 shots... Mike Smith finished the season with the fourth best GAA in the Coast (2.55)...Dan Murphy finished with the 16th best GAA (2.85) and the league lead in shootout wins (7).
