Black out for Season; Another Rookie Signed

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls finalized their playoff roster today by placing veteran defenseman Jamie Black on the season-ending injured list and signing rookie defenseman Ryan Thrussell.

Black, 31, was placed on the injured list after spraining his shoulder in last night's game against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The 6-foot, 205-pound veteran defenseman from Calgary Alberta played in 59 games for the Gulls this season, registering 15 points (3g, 12a) and 24 penalty minutes.

Thrussell, 22, comes to San Diego after spending the season with the University of British Columbia. In 16 games with UBC, the 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound native of Vancouver British Columbia scored nine points (4g, 5a) on his way to being selected to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport all-rookie team. Prior to this season, Thrussell played four years in juniors.

With Mark Pederson coming off IR, the Gulls now have 21 active players on their playoff roster:
