Corey Neilson Named UHL Player of the Week

Jackals Defenseman Corey Neilson has earned United Hockey League Player of the Week honors for the week ending 11/17/02, it was announced today.

The 6-5 Neilson recorded six points this weekend, including a four assist night against the Adirondack IceHawks to help the Jackals earn a shootout point Thursday evening. Saturday in the Jackals' 5-3 win over Flint he contributed with two assists on the evening as well. The Oromocto, NB native was also +3 for the week as well, aiding the Jackals in earning four of a possible six points this weekend with a 1-0-2 mark.

Neilson attended Columbus Blue Jackets rookie camp this year, proceeding next to Syracuse Crunch camp in the American Hockey League. Since his appointment to Elmira, Neilson has 14 assists and no goals in 15 games to go with a +2 rating and 28 PIMs.

Elmira will take to the road for three games this weekend against the Flint Generals on Wednesday at 7 pm, Port Huron Beacons on Friday at 7:05 pm, and then finish things off in Glens Falls on Saturday against the Adirondack IceHawks at 7:30 pm.
