Condors Make it Four in a Row

Bakersfield was looking to continue their winning ways over Fresno in the first of a home-and-home set on Friday night at Centennial Garden. Shawn Byram and Jon Sorg netted first period tallies for Bakersfield to seize control of the game early. Jamie Cooke scored in his fourth straight game during the first minute of play in the second period, making it 3-0 Condors. Fresno scored later in the second period to get in the game, but the Condors quickly regained their three-goal advantage. Jason Ralph redirected a shot on the power play to make it 4-1 after two periods. The rough stuff began in the third period, as the two teams combined for over 100 third period penalty minutes. The win was the second consecutive on home ice for Bakersfield.

Bakersfield Remains Perfect on the Road

A seesaw battle took place in Fresno the following night to wrap up the weekend for the Condors. Fresno got on the board first, only to be answered by a Jeff Goldie tally later in the opening frame. The teams exchanged second period goals as well, with Ralph scoring for the second straight game. Fresno answered just six seconds later with a breakaway off the face off at center ice. The Falcons took the 3-2 lead in the opening minutes of the final stanza, but a 2-on-1 for the Condors led to Shawn Byram's tying tally. Regulation ended 3-3, with Kevin St. Pierre stopping 30 of 33 shots faced between the pipes. In the shootout, the first of the season for Bakersfield, St. Pierre was unbeatable stopping all four shooters he faced. Meanwhile, Byram and former Falcon Christian Skoryna tallied for Bakersfield and they improved to 6-0 against Fresno. The win was the fifth straight for the Condors, who also improved to 5-0 on the road.
