Express Forward Gyori Called up to Hershey
November 18, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Roanoke Express News Release
ROANOKE, VA â Roanoke Express forward Dylan Gyori was called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League today, it was announced by Express Head Coach and General Manager Perry Florio. Gyori led the Express in scoring with 24 points, having scored four goals and 20 assists. The 20 assists currently leads all players in the East Coast Hockey League.
Gyori picked up at least one point in 14 of 15 Express games, including earning multiple points in eight games this year. He also holds the longest streak in the ECHL for consecutive games with an assist, earning a helper in nine straight games from Oct. 11 â Nov. 3.
"This is a big moment for Dylan," said Florio. "This is what we strive for, to see our players excel in the ECHL and earn promotions to the next level. Dylan certainly deserves this promotion, based on the numbers and leadership he showed on the ice with us this season."
The trip to the AHL is not Gyori's first in his career. During the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons, the winger played a total of 106 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, scoring 24 points.
The 23-year-old Alberta native was in his first season with Roanoke. Prior to joining the Express, Gyori spent time in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers (2001-02) and the Richmond Renegades (1999-00) following five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans.
