Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce the completion of a trade with the Quad City Mallards. The K-Wings will send rookie goaltender Jeff Reynaert to Quad City to complete a trade made with the Quad City Mallards last week. The deal saw the K-Wings receive veteran defenseman Dan Hodge and rookie forward Shawn Roed. Both players made their K-Wings debut over the weekend. Besides Reynaert, the Mallards will receive the K-Wings first and second round draft picks in this year's UHL Amateur Draft in March.
"When you receive players the caliber of Dan and Shawn you have to expect to give up something big in return," said General Manager Paul Pickard. "Jeff is an outstanding goaltender, and when Chad was hurt, he (Jeff) made himself marketable around the league with the numbers he was able to produce." So far this season, Reynaert is third in goals against average in the UHL with a GAA of 2.65. Jeff is also second in the league with a save percentage of .921.
The K-Wings attention is now directed to find a second goaltender to accompany Chad Alban. Alban led the K-Wings this weekend to an incredible 3-0-0 record, which included victories against the two top teams in the UHL (Missouri and Fort Wayne).
Kalamazoo is hoping to have a goaltender in place by tomorrow. The K-Wings will leave Kalamazoo on Wednesday, for a two game road trip, which will see them play Adirondack on Thursday, and Port Huron on Friday. The K-Wings, who are on a season high three-game winning streak will return home on Saturday (1/18) to battle the leaders of the Western Conference the Missouri River Otters. Game time from Wings Stadium will be at 7:30 PM, and the first 1,000 fans that enter the stadium will receive a FREE K-Wings mouse pad courtesy of WRCC.
Tickets for the K-Wings against Missouri, and all home games are available by contacting the Wings Stadium Box Office at (269) 345-5101.
For more information about Jeff Reynaert to Quad City, contact Mike Modugno, Director of Public Relations/Broadcaster at (269) 349-9772.
