Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today defenseman Sean Peach has been acquired in a trade with the Baton Rouge Kingfish for center Dwayne Blais (BLAH) and defenseman Curtis Menzul (MEHN-zuhl).
Peach, 24, played 37 games for Baton Rouge this season, scoring three goals and adding 13 assists for 16 points. He also has a plus-2 rating and 63 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound native of Langley, British Columbia is in his third season of professional hockey.
Blais, 25, suited up in 40 games with the Sea Wolves this year, tallying six goals and registering six assists for 12 points along with 37 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9 and 185-pound native of Sudbury, Ontario was signed as a free agent by Mississippi on September 17. Blais is in his second full season of pro hockey.
Menzul, 26, appeared in 10 games with Mississippi this season, collecting two assists and accumulating 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3 and 215-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was acquired by the Sea Wolves in a trade with the Toledo Storm on December 19 for future considerations. Menzul is in his third season playing professional hockey.
"With the amount of goals we have been giving up recently, we needed to make a change," said Woods. "Sean Peach is a solid defenseman that I expect will help on our blueline."
Peach goes up against his former team on Friday, as the Sea Wolves host Baton Rouge at 7:35 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
Then on Sunday, the Sea Wolves welcome intrastate rival Jackson to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The puck drops at 5:05 p.m. Adults purchasing an individual game ticket receive one FREE ticket for a child 12 and under.
Individual game tickets are available at all TicketMaster locations, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum box office and by calling 228-594-3707.
