THE WEEK AHEAD
Tuesday, January 14th @ Pee Dee Florence Civic Center 7:00pm
The Inferno is 2-2-1 this season against the Pride. This is the sixth game out of nine this year. Pee Dee is in first place with 51 points in the Southeast Division.
Thursday, January 16th vs. Augusta Carolina Coliseum 7:05pm
Last time the Inferno and the Lynx met, Columbia won 6-3. Augusta is in seventh place with 28 points in the Southeast Division. The Inferno is 3-2-0 this year against the Lynx.
Friday, January 17th vs. Charlotte Carolina Coliseum 7:05pm
This is the second meeting between the Checkers and the Inferno. The Inferno beat the Checkers 7-1 in November and has a 4-1-1 all-time record. The Checkers are in seventh place with 38 points of the Northeast Division.
Saturday, January 15th @ Greenville Bi-Lo Center 7:30pm
The Inferno is 3-1-0 against the Grrrowl this season and 7-4-1 all-time. This is the third game in Greenville and fifth overall this year.
LAST WEEK
Tuesday, January 7th COLUMBIA 2 Columbus 1
Columbus scored on the power play at 12:40 of the first period. The Inferno came out strong in the second period as Paul Cabana scored his second goal of the season on the power play at 1:23 with Matt Ulwelling and Rejean Stringer assisted. Less than three minutes later, Stringer scored the game-winning goal on another power play with passes from Cabana and Ulwelling. Columbia held the Cottonmouths to only 10 shots on goal, setting a franchise record for shots allowed. Goaltender Patrick Couture earned his 13th win of the season stopping nine of ten shots.
Thursday, January 9th Columbia 2 TRENTON 4
Justin Morrison scored the first goal at 9:35 of the first period with assists from Rejean Stringer and Erik Adams. Adam Edinger scored to tie the game at one on a shorthanded goal at 19:36. Denis Martynyuk scored his seventh goal of the season at 9:55 of the second period to give the Inferno a one-goal lead. At 18:25, Edinger had his second goal of the night to tie the game on the power play for the Titans. With only 1:25 left in the third period, Edinger scored his third goal to win the game for Trenton. Scott Bertoli added the empty net goal as the Titans win 4-2.
Friday, January 10th COLUMBIA 6 Roanoke 3
Dennis Vial started the scoring for the Inferno only 1:35 into the first period with passes from Rejean Stringer and Justin Morrison. Roanoke's Joe Dusbabek scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at one only two minutes later. Defenseman Chris St. Croix scored his fifth goal of the season with Chris Pittman and Tim Smith on the assist at 12:55. With 4:58 into the second period, Matt Ulwelling set Robin Carruthers up to score the third goal for the Inferno. On the power play at 10:24, Stringer scored an insurance goal to give the Inferno a 4-2 lead. Roanoke scored with only 45 seconds left in the second period to bring them within one. The Express tied the game 48 seconds into the third period but the Inferno battled back with the game-winning goal by Tim Smith at 14:52 with assists to Sean Owens and Chris Pittman. Ulwelling sealed the game for the Inferno as he scored his 12th goal of the season with a pass from Barrie Moore. Josh Blackburn stopped 37 of 40 shots to earn his seventh win.
Saturday, January 11th COLUMBIA 5 South Carolina 3
Clint Way scored from the blue line as Justin Morrison passed him the puck on the power play as the Inferno lead 1-0 at 13:10 of the first period. Sean Owens scored his third of the season at 14:43 with Chris Pittman and Tim Smith on the assists. The Stingrays owned the second period, scoring three goals to take the lead 3-2. The Inferno came out strong in the third period with goals by Denis Martynyuk, Justin Morrison and Rejean Stringer to give the Inferno the win. Patrick Couture stopped 31 of 34 shots to earn his 14th win.
