'Gades Explode for Two Wins Last Week

The Richmond Renegades are 25-24-3 after going 2-0 last week. The ‘Gades are in fifth place in the Northeast Division, six points behind the Trenton Titans. Richmond opens a four game road trip Thursday at Greensboro. The ‘Gades return home Friday, February 21 vs. Pee Dee.

GAME NOTES: The eighth and final meeting of the season and the ‘Gades fourth visit to Greensboro. Richmond is 3-3-1 vs. the Generals, 1-1-1 at Greensboro. Lars Pettersen has eight points vs. the Generals. Mark Turner and Ole Kjenstad have nine vs. Richmond.

Friday, February 14 @ Charlotte 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The sixth of eight meetings and the third of four in Charlotte. Richmond is 2-2-1 vs. the Checkers, 0-1-1 at Charlotte. Lars Pettersen has six points vs. the Checkers. Kurt Seher and Edward Pershin have six points vs. the ‘Gades. Charlotte is 7-31 (22.6%) vs. the ‘Gades.

Friday, February 7 vs. Greensboro WIN 6-3

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades snapped a 2-2 tie with four third period goals. Six ‘Gades scored and seven had two point nights. Marc Magliarditi made 39 saves as the ‘Gades were out-shot 42-28. The ‘Gades allowed a power play goal and won for the first time since December 1.

Saturday, February 8 vs. Reading WIN 8-4

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 3-1 only to see Reading battle back to tie the game. Richmond scored twice in the second period to move in front to stay and blew the game open with three third period goals. Brad Church had a hat trick and two assists for a club season high five point game. Richard Pitirri and David Brosseau had three point games.

GADES NOTES: The ‘Gades have won their last two games by a combined 14-7. The Renegades have not won three straight since 11/30-12/5. The ‘Gades have won three straight against Northeast Division opponents. Richmond has scored seven third period goals in their last two games. The ‘Gades equaled their second largest offensive output of the season with their eight goal effort Saturday vs. Reading. Josh Harrold earned a call-up to Philadelphia of the AHL Sunday. Harrold played Sunday for the Phantoms (no, points or PIM's, even +/-, and four shots). He is the sixth Renegade to be called up to the AHL this season. The ‘Gades are 9 for their last 20 on the power play. Richmond out-shot six straight opponents by an average of 10 per game prior to being out-shot 38-24 by Greensboro Friday. That was the largest margin by which the ‘Gades have been out-shot in a win this season. Richmond allowed a power play goal in Friday's win. The ‘Gades were perfect on the penalty kill in their previous eight wins dating back to December 5. Brad Church has points in six straight games. Church notched his first hat trick (and the club's fifth this season) Saturday vs. Reading. He wound up with a club season high five points in that game. Lars Pettersen has a three game scoring streak. Richmond has lost three straight overtime/shootout games after winning their first seven. The ‘Gades have played 17 straight games without an overtime. Leon Hayward has shorthanded goals in his last two games. Richmond plays their next four games on the road. The ‘Gades went 4-2 on a six game homestand. Richmond is in a stretch of six straight games vs. Northeast Division opponents. The Renegades collected 529 teddy bears in Friday's Teddy Bear Toss. Renegades players donated those bears to the Children's Ward at MCV Hospital Monday. Marc Magliarditi now has 128 career ECHL wins, seventh best in league history. Magliarditi is fifth in the ECHL in minutes played. Jon Zion is 10th in rookie scoring, seventh in scoring by defenseman, and leads the league in rookie defenseman scoring. Leon Hayward is tied for sixth in the ECHL with four shorthanded goals. He leads the league in shorthanded goals by rookies. The ‘Gades are tied for fourth in the league in fewest shots on goal allowed (29.9). They are tied for third in shorthanded goals with 13. Richmond is the least penalized team in the ECHL (20.4 PIM per game). Richmond snapped a four game winless streak vs. Greensboro and a three game loosing streak vs. Reading with their wins last week.
