Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA- The Saint John Flames announced today that they have assigned forwards Shawn Mather (MAY-ther), Sam St. Pierre, J.F. Boutin and defenseman P.L. Courchesne to the Johnstown Chiefs.

Mather, 22, appeared in 40 games for the Flames this season scoring 2 goals and 5 points. The Chiefs originally signed him on August 13, 2002. The 5'10, 185 LBS native of Chatham, Ontario has been with Saint John on a professional tryout agreement the entire season.

Mather appeared in 71 games for the New Orleans Brass last season scoring 19 goals, and 25 assists (25 PTS). Mather became a free agent when the Brass suspended operations for this season because the New Orleans Arena became unavailable due to the NBA's Charlotte Hornets move there.

Courchesne was loaned to the Flames on February 4th. He appeared in three games with Saint John, recording two assists.

Both St. Pierre and Boutin were loaned to the Flames yesterday and appeared in Saint John's 3-2 win over Lowell. Boutin assisted on the game winning goal. All are expected to be in the lineup Friday night, when the Chiefs visit the Reading Royals.

The Chiefs will play their 1000th ECHL game on Saturday, February 22nd, when they host the Toledo Storm. The first 2,000 people through the gate will receive a commemorative coffee mug courtesy of Sheetz. For tickets call (814) 536-5156 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT.
