Augusta Lynx News Release


The Augusta Lynx were 1-0-1 over the weekend, losing in overtime to the Roanoke Express and defeating the Columbus Cottonmouths. Augusta's record now stands at 17-28-4 with thirty-eight points, five points behind the fifth play-off spot.

The Roanoke Express were able to pull ahead in overtime, defeating the Lynx 2-1 on Friday, February 7. The lone Lynx goal was scored by Andrew Williamson, who extended his game point scoring streak to nine games, tallying 18 points (8g-10a) in his last nine games. The Lynx were 1-5 on the power play while Roanoke was 0-6.

The Lynx defeated their intrastate rivals the Columbus Cottonmouths by a score of 4-1 Saturday, February 8. Mike Legg netted two goals, extending his point scoring streak to eight games (5g-6a). The Lynx were successful on their lone power play, and were also able to kill all of the Cottonmouth's opportunities.

The Lynx will host the Pride of Pee Dee Wednesday, February 12 for the first meeting in Augusta since December 7. Pee Dee leads the series 4-1-0, with four of the meetings taking place in Florence. The Lynx have an all-time record of 23-29-7 versus the Pride. Pee Dee has outscored Augusta 20-8. The Lynx have found the back of the net only once in twenty-four power play opportunities, while the Pride has six power play goals. The Lynx lone win against the Pride came back on December 7 in Augusta. They will host Pee Dee three more times this season.

The Jackson Bandits travel to Augusta for the second and final meeting of the season on Friday, February 14. The Bandits defeated the Lynx 5-4 in the last meeting in Jackson November 27. John McNabb and former Lynx Jeff Bess have a goal a piece against the Lynx. Augusta was able to hold off Jackson on the power play, shutting them down on five chances. The Lynx were able to tally one power play goal as well as a shortie.

Saturday, February 15 will see the Cincinnati Cyclones of the Northwest Division. The Lynx previously played in Cincinnati, losing 5-4. Forward Lance Galbraith notched two goals against the Cyclones. Cincinnati defenseman and the league's leading defenseman scorer Ryan Gaucher had a five point game with two goals and three assists. The Lynx were shut down on the power play going 0-5 while Cincinnati was able to complete on 2-5, plus a shortie.

Player of the Week: Legg tallied three points (2g-1a) and a plus two rating in the two games over the weekend. One of his goals was a power play goal.

Goaltender of the Week: Newcomer Tom Draper was 1-0-1 in his debut Lynx weekend. He stopped a total of 78 shots for a Save Percentage of 0.963 and a Goals Against Average of 1.48 in 122 minutes of play.

AHL Update:

In thirteen games with the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack, Patrick Yetman has tallied three points from two goals and one assist.

During Brad Ralph's stint with Lynx AHL affiliate Springfield Falcons he had two assists in four games.

Monday, February 10: Lynx players and Louie the Lynx will be visiting children at the Children ‘s Medical Center at the Medical College of Georgia. Join the Lynx at Cadillac's Fine Food and Spirits at 7 pm for the "Behind the Bench Coach's Show" with Head Coach David Wilkie and Kyle Schultz.

Wednesday, February 12: Pee Dee Pride travels to Augusta. Game time is 7:05 pm at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Friday, February 14: The Lynx host the Jackson Bandits at 7:35 pm at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Saturday, February 15: The Lynx will host the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. Game time is 7:35 pm.
