Reading Winless Streak Extends to Three Games

Reading Royals News Release


The Reading Royals finished a stretch of just six games in 20 days last weekend. The Royals managed one point in their two games last week. Last Tuesday in Charlotte, Reading overcame a 4-1 deficit in the third period to force overtime. The Checkers prevailed in the shootout. The Royals had three days off before facing Richmond in Virginia on Saturday night. The Renegades stopped Reading 8-4.

This week begins a stretch of eight games in just 11 days. Five of those eight battles will be at home in the Sovereign Center. The Royals battle Johnstown on Friday night in the Sovereign Center then travel to Atlantic City Saturday, finally finishing up with Trenton on Sunday at home.

Friday, February 14 vs. Johnstown Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals have another chance to claim the Keystone Cup wit h win of any kind against the Johnstown Chiefs. The Royals and Chiefs have met three times this season. All three meetings were in Johnstown with the Royals winning two of three. The Chiefs beat the Royals for the first time on January 24, 9-4.

Saturday, February 15 @ Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The road team has dominated this series winning every game. The Royals have met the Bullies five times this season posting a 2-3-0 mark. Each team will host two more contests this season. This is the first meeting in nearly three months for these two teams.

Sunday, February 16 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 5:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals and Trenton Titans haven't met since November 17, 2002. Reading has posted a 2-4-0 mark against the Titans so far this season. Of the four remaining games in this season series, the Royals will host three contests. The final meeting in Trenton is next Wednesday, February 19.

Friday, February 4 @ Charlotte Cricket Arena 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals mini three game series with the Charlotte Checkers ended last Tuesday. The Royals posted a 1-1-1 mark against Charlotte. Trailing 4-1 early in the third period, Reading stormed back with three goals in the final ten and a half minutes to skate to a 4-4 tie at the end of regulation. The Checkers won their fourth straight shootout converting on two of four opportunities.

Saturday, February 8 @ Richmond Richmond Coliseum 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: Richmond picked up a big 8-4 win over the Royals Saturday night in Richmond. The Royals had won three straight over the Renegades prior to that meeting. Brad Church led the way for the ‘Gades tallying a hat trick and two assists. Mat Snesrud and Brian McCullough each tallied a goal and assist for the Royals.

The Royals captain has played solid since returning from the Manchester Monarchs (AHL). Snesrud picked up two assists in the Royals shootout loss Tuesday, then tallied a goal and an assist last Saturday in Richmond. Snesrud has now scored in five straight games, his longest point scoring streak of the season.

Royals goaltender Jeff Sanger has seen a lot of rubber over the last few weeks. Sanger stopped 37 shots in Charlotte on Tuesday night in a 5-4 shootout loss. Saturday he came up with 29 stops against Richmond.
