Titans Continue Difficult Stretch With Three Games This Weekend
February 10, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
The Trenton Titans (26-17-7) open a stretch of three games in three days on Friday night when they host the Greensboro Generals (30-14-5). It is the fifth of six meetings between the two clubs with the Titans looking for their first win of the season (0-3-1). The Generals defeated the Titans 4-1 on January 17 in Trenton. On Saturday night it's the third of five meetings with the Johnstown Chiefs (20-25-8). The Titans are 1-0-1 against the Chiefs this season in Trenton. On Sunday night the Titans travel to Reading to face the Royals (24-23-3). The Titans are 4-1-1 in the season series and 3-0-1 in Trenton.
"Player of the Week â Andrew Allen":
Goaltender Andrew Allen made quite an impression registering back-to-back shutouts last week in his first two starts with the Titans. On Wednesday night he blanked Toledo 1-0 in overtime stopping 14 shots, and on Friday night he made 29 saves (11 in the first period to keep the game scoreless) in a 5-0 win at Charlotte. Overall he is 7-9-3, with a 3.12 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.
"Road Warriors":
The Titans have turned around their season and a good reason is their road record, which now stands at .500 (11-11-2). They began the season 2-9-0 on the road in their first 11 games, but are now 9-2-2 in their last 13. During the streak they have won seven games against teams that are .500 or better in Peoria, Columbia, South Carolina, Roanoke (2) and Charlotte (2).
Bertoli Streaking In Return To Lineup:
Left wing Scott Bertoli has been on a torrid point pace since returning to the lineup on January 3rd. He currently is riding a season and team best 11-game point streak in which he has netted five goals and 11 assists.
"Hurley Burley":
Right wing Mike Hurley has felt right at home since being acquired by the Titans on January 14th. He has notched at least one point in seven of 10 games, and has 10 points (7 goals, 3 assists) overall and a +6 rating. Hurley returned to Charlotte last weekend and netted three power play goals in two games. He currently has a two-game goal streak with three goals.
Titans In The Community:
On Tuesday February 11th at 1:30 pm, Titans players will visit and read to the students at Yardville Elementary School.
On Thursday, February 13th at 1:30 pm, Kam White will visit the students at West Amwell School in Lawrenceville, NJ for another installment in the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation "Helmut Safety Program."
Streaking Titans:
Scott Bertoli has an 11-game point streak and 16 total points (5g, 11a).
Mike Hurley has a two-game goal streak and three goals total.
Eric Betournay has a two-game points streak with two points (1g, 1a)
Adam Edinger and Steve O'Brien each have two-game assist streaks (2a).
