Chiefs Host Ziggy's Fundraiser

May 26, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release

For years, Dave Zeigler, more commonly known as "Ziggy" has been a mainstay of the hockey community in Johnstown through his equipment business at the War Memorial Arena and more recently across from the arena on Stonycreek Street in downtown Johnstown. Providing everyone with uniforms, equipment and anything else a player or a team needs for a successful season, "Ziggy" was always there for anyone from the local youth and scholastic programs to the Johnstown Chiefs. Last season, his work for the Pittsburgh Penguins earned him a Stanley Cup ring while working with fellow Johnstown native Dana Heinze.

Last month, our friend "Ziggy" was diagnosed with brain cancer. As he was there for all of us at one time or another to keep us on the ice, it is now time for us to come together for him. With the gracious help of Planet Ice, June 5th will be a special night with the Ziggy's Fundraiser to benefit Dave Zeigler and family.

This special night will be headlined by a Johnstown Chiefs' alumni hockey game with many familiar names from the 22 year history of the Johnstown Chiefs. In addition, a silent auction will be held featuring autographed memorabilia from the Pittsburgh Penguins and Johnstown Chiefs among others. The night will also include food, drinks and entertainment. A skate with the players session will be held following the hockey game.

Tickets for the event will cost $50 for adults and $20 for children. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the hockey game facing off at 7:30 and the skating session to follow. Tickets can be purchased at Planet Ice, Scott's By Dam, and Ziggy's Sports or for more information call at 814-262-7465 x203 or , info@ziggysfundraiser.org Also, check out the Ziggy's Fundraiser on Facebook and www.ziggysfundraiser.org. Those not able to attend the event, but still wish to make a donation can do so through the website.

You will be pleasantly surprised with the line-up of Chiefs alumni we have coming back in support for Zig. If possible, please forward this email to your friends.
