Hershey Bears News Release

(Hershey, PA) - Shane Gersich scored in the final minute of regulation to lift the Hershey Bears to a thrilling 2-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday night at Giant Center. Both teams will rematch tomorrow at 3 PM to conclude three games in three nights.

Both teams traded tallies in the first period with the Sound Tigers drawing first blood. At 12:09, Andrew Ladd finished a pass across to beat Pheonix Copley moving to his left. Laster in the period, the Bears earned three power plays, and Matt Moulson converted on the middle man-advantage to even the score before intermission. Following a Bridgeport defensive zone turnover, Moulson moved to the net and scored on a stuff attempt past Jared Coreau. Hershey finished the night 1-for-3 on the power play and were not tasked with a single penalty kill for the first time this season.

With the score even at 1-1 late in the third period, overtime appeared to be looming. Shane Gersich put the Bears ahead with a dramatic goal at 19:10 to provide the Chocolate and White with their first lead of the night inside the final minute. Following a Joe Snively stuff attempt, Gersich crept to the net front and found the loose biscuit for the game-winner. Final shots on goal totaled 32-22 Hershey in the Bears' 20th win of the season.

Hershey's record improves to 20-10-2-3 entering tomorrow afternoon's rematch against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Puck drop tomorrow at Giant Center is scheduled for 3 PM on STAR WARS Night. Ticket information is available online at HersheyBears.com.
