June 26, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) - Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Reno Aces shutout the Salt Lake Bees 7-0 in the series opener on Tuesday night.

Matt Ball (0-1) got the start and was tagged with the loss after going three and one-thirds innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits.

The Aces broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning by posting seven runs on six hits. After leaving one runner on with one out to begin the fourth frame, Ball was relieved by Parker Bridwell who gave up six earned runs to finish the inning. Bridwell held Reno's offense scoreless for the next four frames and two-way player Jared Walsh finished the ninth frame with a scoreless outing, but the Bees could not capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the game going 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position during the game.

The Bees offense was held to just five hits and suffered its seventh shutout this season. Brennon Lund went 1-for-3 and extended his season-high hitting streak to eight games. On the defensive side, Salt Lake infielders tied a season-high in double plays turned with three. With no Bees home runs in the contest, Salt Lake's streak of 15 consecutive games with a home run came to an end with Taylor Ward's streak of three straight games with a homer ending as well.

The Bees and Aces play three more games during the series with first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night.
