Iowa Native Rea Selected to PCL All-Star Team

ROUND ROCK, TX - Iowa Cubs starting pitcher Colin Rea has been selected to participate in the 2019 Triple-A All-Star Game, the Pacific Coast League announced today. The game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 10 in El Paso, Texas and will be televised nationally on MLB Network starting at 8:00 p.m. CT.

In 15 starts with Iowa, Rea is 8-2 with a 3.56 ERA (32ER/81.0IP), 32 walks and 61 strikeouts. The righty is among the PCL league leaders in wins (2nd, 8), ERA (4th, 3.56), innings pitched (6th, 81.0), opponent batting average (t-9th, .260) and WHIP (10th, 1.38).

Rea has been Iowa's most consistent starter this season, spinning 5.0 innings in 12 of 15 starts while limiting his opponents to three or fewer earned runs in 11 of those outings.

The Cascade, IA native is in his first season with Iowa after signing with the Cubs as a minor league free agent on Jan. 10, 2019. Rea has spent time in the big leagues with San Diego (2015-16) and Miami (2016), compiling a 7-7 record with a 4.69 ERA (70ER/134.1IP) through 26 games (25 GS).
