Taylor Widener Sharp in Aces Shutout Victory
June 26, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) - Reno Aces News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - Taylor Widener entered the 2019 campaign as one of the top prospects in all of baseball. While adjusting to life in the Pacific Coast League, the right-hander has not been his reported dominant self. That all changed with the first outing of his career in Salt Lake City, Utah. Widener went six innings tonight, allowed zero runs on three hits and struck out five. Connor Grey came in for relief and finished the job started by Widener. The offense waited three innings to get started tonight. A fielding error and a walk got the inning started. The inning ended with seven runs in the scoring column behind six consecutive hits. Yasmany Tomas led the way this evening, finishing 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Reno will play Salt Lake again tomorrow at Smith's Ballpark at 6:05 p.m. PT.
