STORM TRACKS

¨ The 7-2 loss to the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday dropped the Storm's record to 25-30-7. That marked the first time this season that Toledo had fallen five games under .500. Prior to this game, the season low for the Storm had been four games under .500, which the Storm experienced on five separate occasions: (i) 11/03: 2-6-1; (ii) 12/15: 10-14-1; (iii) 03/06: 24-28-6; (iv) 03/10: 25-29-7; and (v) 03/16: 26-30-7.

¨ The seven goals allowed on Wednesday night tied the season high for total goals against in a single game this season—and marked the first time that Toledo has given up seven goals in a single game at home this year. The Storm allowed seven goals against on two other occasions—both on the road: (i) 01/26: 3-7 @ Greensboro; and (ii) 02/24: 4-7@ Peoria.

¨ In Wednesday's loss, the Storm substituted goaltenders, bringing in Steve Briere for Joey MacDonald at the beginning of the second period. MacDonald allowed 3 goals on 15 shots in the first twenty minutes; and Briere stopped 32 of the 36 shots he saw over the course of the final forty minutes. That marked the seventh time this season that the Storm has made a goaltender substitution during a game.

¨ Wheeling was credited with 28 shots on the Toledo goal in the second period of Tuesday's game. That represents a season high for shots against the Storm in a single period this season.

¨ In Wednesday's game, Wheeling had a total of 51 shots on goal over the course of the game. That marked the fifth time this season that the Storm has allowed fifty or more shots in a single game.

¨ The Nailers scored two power play goals on six chances on Wednesday. That was the sixth consecutive game in which the opponent had scored two or more goals with the man advantage against the Storm. Over the course of this season, the Storm has allowed more than one power play goal in 26 of the 64 games played.

¨ The Storm had eleven chances (1-11) with the man advantage in Wednesday's game, which is the second highest total of power play opportunities in a single game for the Storm. On October 13, in the second game of the season, the Storm had 12 power play chances (2-12) against the Dayton Bombers.

¨ Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Trenton Titans marked the first victory in franchise history for the Storm over the Trenton organization. Coming into that game, over the three years of playing against one another, the Storm was 0-8-1 in regulation and 0-3 in playoff action against the Titans.

¨ The win on Saturday ran the Storm's record against the Northeast Division this season to 8-7-2. The Storm still has two games remaining this season against teams in the Northeast: (i) Wednesday, 03/27 v. Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies; and (ii) Saturday, 03/30 v. Reading Royals.

¨ On Saturday night, the Storm's penalty killing unit blanked the Titans' power play on five chances. That marked the seventeenth time this season that Toledo has kept the opponent's power play unit off the board.

¨ Alexandre Jacques was originally credited with the Storm's second goal on Saturday night, which made the score 2-0 in favor of Toledo at the 19:06 mark in the second period. Further review revealed that the goal should have been awarded to Jeff Petrie. Had Jacques been credited with that goal, it would have extended a point streak to eight games, which would have been a team high. However, Jacques was kept off the scoreboard on Saturday night (only the 9th time over the prior 44 Storm games in which he did not pick up at least one point). Therefore, Jacques' point (and assist) streak was snapped at seven games, which ties Richard Keyes for the longest of the season for the Storm. (Keyes has actually had two separate seven game point streaks this season.)

¨ The Storm was outscored 2-0 in the third period on Saturday night—these goals served to tie the game at two and, ultimately, send it to overtime. When included with Sunday's game (in which Dayton outscored Toledo 1-0 in the third period), the Storm has now been outscored in the third period in seven of the last ten games. In those seven games, Toledo has been outscored by a total of 16-3.

¨ Magnus Nilsson scored the overtime game winner (at 1:59 of the OT) on Saturday night. That marked Nilsson's second game winning goal of the season. His other gwg came when he scored the first goal in the only shutout of the season for the Storm (on 12/28 v. Peoria, 6-0).

¨ Toledo's 7-6 overtime victory over the Dayton Bombers on Sunday marked the first time this season that the Storm has won back-to-back overtime games this season. Toledo did end regulation in a tie in three consecutive games from 02/16-02/19; but lost the first two of those games in the shootout (3-4 @ CIN, 02/16 and 3-4 @ JHN, 02/17) and won the third one in overtime (2-1 @ DAY, 02/19).

¨ With the overtime win on Sunday, the Storm is now 5-2 in overtime this year. The Storm has defeated the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (3-2, 11/09 @ ATC); the Cincinnati Cyclones (3-2, 11/17 @ Toledo); the Dayton Bombers twice (2-1, 02/19 @ DAY and 7-6, 03/17 @ Toledo) and the Trenton Titans (3-2, 03/16 @ Toledo). The two losses in overtime for the Storm this season both came at the hands of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (01/11, 4-5 @ ATC and 03/09, 4-5 @ Toledo).

¨ Sunday's win was the second overtime victory of the season for the Storm over the Dayton Bombers. Toledo beat Dayton 2-1 at the E.J. Nutter Center on February 19 with a Kevin Kerr goal at 1:45 of the extra session.

¨ Toledo's victory over Dayton on Sunday marked the fourth consecutive win for the Storm over the Bombers in the series between the two clubs. Toledo won the first matchup between these two teams on October 13; Dayton won the next four games in the series; and Toledo has now won the last four. Toledo and Dayton meet up twice more in the regular season—both at Dayton (Friday, 03/22 and Sunday 03/31).

¨ Sunday's victory ran the Storm's home record to 16-13-2. Since January 1, 2002, the Storm is now 7-8-2 at home.

¨ On Sunday, the Storm scored four goals in the first four minutes and thirty seconds. That represents the shortest time span within which the Storm has scored four consecutive goals this season—whether at the start—or any other stage—of the game. That's also true for the three goals that were scored in the first two minutes and twenty seconds. The nine seconds between the second goal (by Chad Wilchynski @ 2:11) and the third goal (by Dmitri Leonov @ 2:20) is the shortest amount of time between two goals for the Storm this season.

¨ Sunday game was the first time this season that the Storm held a four goal lead and allowed the opponent to come back and tie the game up (at 4-4).

¨ The Storm scored two power play goals in seven chances on Sunday. That marked the sixth consecutive game that Toledo has scored at least one goal with the man advantage. Over the course of the season, the Storm has scored more than one power play goal in thirteen of the team's sixty-four games.

¨ To date, the Storm has scored 61 power play goals in 369 chances—a 16.5% scoring ratio, which is 22nd in the ECHL.

¨ With the six goals allowed on Sunday, the Storm has now allowed six or more goals in six of the last 11 games. Over the course of the season, Toledo has allowed six or more goals in ten games. Sunday's game was the first time this season that the Storm has allowed as many as six goals and ended up with a win.

¨ The Storm has now allowed a total of 239 goals in 64 games—a 3.73 team goals against average, which is 28th in the league.

¨ With the seven goals scored on Sunday, the Storm has now scored six or more goals in nine games this season—but have only done it twice in the last twenty-three games. Toledo has won every game this season in which the team has scored six or more goals.

¨ Over the course of the season, Toledo has scored a total of 212 goals in 64 games—a 3.31 goals for/game ratio, which is sixth in the league.

¨ In Sunday's game, the Bombers had 45 shots on Toledo goaltender, Steve Briere. That marked the 22nd time this season that the opponent has accumulated 40 or more shots on the Storm net. This has also been accomplished in four of the last six games against Toledo.

¨ Overall, the Storm averages 37.34 shots against/game, which is 28th in the league in that category.

¨ Jeff Wells scored the overtime game winner for the Storm on Sunday. That was the first game winning goal of the season for Wells, who also scored the sixth Toledo goal in Sunday's game and picked up an assist on the first goal of the game. That was Wells' first three point performance of the season (in 16 games).

¨ Richard Keyes scored the game's first goal on Sunday (at 0:59 of the first), while the Storm was on the power play. That was Keyes' 33rd goal of the season, and his team leading 14th power play goal (which ties him for 3rd in the league in that category). It was also Keyes' fourth "first goal" of the year—placing him second to only Shawn Maltby on the Storm in that category.

¨ Richard Keyes' five point performance (1g-4a=5pts) on Sunday was a personal high for the year—and also tied him with Dmitri Leonov (who also had a five point performance on Sunday: 1g-4a=5pts) for the team high in that category.

¨ Richard Keyes five point game on Sunday was his 23rd multi-point performance of the season. This was the seventh time this year that Keyes has had three or more points in a single game.

¨ Richard Keyes has scored a goal in each of the last four Storm games. He also has a total of six goals in the last six Storm games.

¨ Richard Keyes now has 81 points (33g-48a) on the season, placing him tied for fourth in the overall scoring race in the ECHL.

¨ Dmitri Leonov's five point performance on Sunday was a personal high for the season. It was also his first multi-point performance of the year with the Storm. In his 35 games with Dayton before coming to the Storm, Leonov had three multi-point games

¨ Dmitri Leonov has at least one point in seven of the nine games he has played with the Storm since joining the team on February 26.

¨ Alexandre Jacques scored two goals and assisted on another in Sunday's game. That marks the thirteenth time this season that Jacques has had more than one point in a single game. He has also had six three point games over the course of the year.

¨ Alexandre Jacques has picked up at least one point in 36 of the 45 games that the Storm has played since December 4, 2001.

¨ The Storm currently has a season-high five players called up to the American Hockey League: (i) Ryan Gaucher (Cincinnati Mighty Ducks); (ii) Richard Keyes (Cincinnati Mighty Ducks—called up Monday, 03/18); (iii) Jason Norrie (Manitoba Moose); (iv) Jeff Mitchell (Saint John Flames); and (v) Shawn Maltby (Providence Bruins).

¨ The Storm had two players on the roster make their professional hockey debut this week: (i) Mike Hamlin; and (ii) Ryan Wetterberg (who picked up an assist in his first game as a pro on Sunday).

¨ The Storm currently has six players on the roster who are in their first year of pro hockey: (i) Jeff Petrie; (ii) Joey MacDonald; (iii) John Kretin; (iv) Marc Higginbotham; (v) Mike Hamlin; and (vi) Ryan Wetterberg.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Dmitri Leonov (1g-6a=7pts, +4) Dmitri Leonov picked up at least one point in all three games for the Storm this week. He assisted on one of the two goals scored by Toledo in 7-2 loss to Wheeling on Wednesday, and on Saturday picked up one assist, as well; however, it was a big helper, as it came on the overtime game winner by Magnus Nilsson. Dmitri followed that act up with a five point performance on Sunday, scoring his first goal as a member of the Storm and adding four assists, including (for the second game in a row) the primary assist on the game winner in overtime. Dmitri also played like a man possessed in all three games—but particularly so in Sunday's matchup against his former Dayton Bomber teammates. Dmitri's special teams' play, particularly on the penalty kill, was spectacular all week long..

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:
Steve Briere (2-0-0, 4.36 gaa, .895 save %) Steve Briere picked up a win in both of his starts for the Storm this week. He began the week by coming on in substitution of Joey MacDonald, who played the first period of Wednesday's 7-2 loss to Wheeling. Steve was promptly greeted with a 28 shot second period from the Nailers. He finished that game with 32 stops on 36 shots over 40 minutes. On Saturday, Steve became the first goaltender in Storm history to beat the Trenton Titans, stopping 31 of the 33 shots that he faced in the overtime victory. On Sunday, Steve helped keep the Storm playoff hopes alive stopping 39 of the 45 shots fired on him by the Dayton Bombers in the 7-6 overtime victory.
