San Diego Gulls News Release

San Diego on Three-Game Win Streak

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls (41-19-3), clicking on all cylinders again, finished last week with a 3-0 record. The blue and orange started the week with a shootout win over the front-running Idaho Steelheads. The Gulls then swept a weekend series with the Colorado Gold Kings. San Diego now leads the Southern Division by a comfortable 12 points and has already clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Gulls trail Idaho by six points for the best record in the West Coast Hockey League.

John Spoltore comes into this week riding an eight-game point-scoring streak, which matches a team high for the season. He needs eight more helpers in San Diego's final nine games to break the franchise's all-time record for one season. Mark Woolf's point streak ended at six games, but he remains the league leader with 46 goals. Trevor Koenig needs to play in four more games to set a new league record for goaltender appearances in one season. He's played in 56 coming into this week. The Gulls are now 12-14-2 against teams over .500.
