LAST WEEK - Grrrowl Finish Five Game Road Trip, Remain in First Place The Grrrowl lost 5-2 to the Greensboro Generals Friday and 4-2 to the South Carolina Stingrays Saturday to finish their five-game road trip with a 2-3 record. They ended the week in first place in the Southeast Division with 80 points and a 37-22-6 record including 22-8-2 at home and 15-14-4 on the road.
FRI MAR 15th at GBO, 5-2 L: DAVID BELL opened the scoring and SEAN VENEDAM added a third-period, power-play goal, but Greensboro scored three times on the advantage including twice in the final two minutes of play. The Grrrowl were 1 for 6 on the power play while the Generals were 3 for 6. The Grrrowl also had a 34-29 shots on goal advantage.
SAT MAR 16th at SC, 4-2 L: DAVID BELL and ROGER TRUDEAU scored for the Grrrowl, but South Carolina converted their first three power plays and added a four-on-four goal. Grrrowl coach JOHN MARKS was thrown out of the game with 2:11 left to play when he stepped on the ice to argue a penalty call. The Grrrowl were 1 for 3 on the power play while the Stingrays were 3 for 4. The Grrrowl had a 48-38 shots on goal advantage.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - D / F DAVID BELL
DAVID BELL scored goals in both games and was a +2 last week netting the first goal of the game Friday and the first Grrrowl goal Saturday. He has three goals, 15 assists, 18 points, 124 penalty minutes and is a +5 in 62 games this season. Bell has also played four games with the American Hockey League's Saint John Flames.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK -
JAYME PLATT JAYME PLATT made 34 saves in a losing effort Saturday. It was his first start in eight days after starting 26 straight games. Platt is 27-9-1 with a 2.52 goals against average, .919 save percentage and one shutout this season. His 27 wins are second among the League's leading goaltenders.
THIS WEEK -
Grrrowl Return Home, Enter Final Two Weeks Of Regular Season The Grrrowl will return to Greenville for their first home game in 18 days when they host the Mobile Mysticks for the first and only time this regular season Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The Grrrowl will also host the Augusta Lynx Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and visit the Charlotte Checkers Sunday at 6 p.m.
WED MAR 20th vs MOB, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the second and final meeting this season. The Grrrowl are 4-1-1 all-time versus Mobile including a 3-2 shootout loss on the road December 7th. The Mysticks enter this week one point shy of a playoff spot in sixth place in the Southwest Division with 68 points and a 26-22-16 record including 18-7-8 at home and 8-15-8 on the road. Their 16 overtime/shootout losses are the most in the League. Wednesday's game will be the first between the teams in Greenville since the 2000 playoffs. Mobile will visit South Carolina Tuesday.
SAT MAR 23rd vs AUG, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the seventh and final meeting, the fourth in Greenville, this season. The Grrrowl are 13-10-5 all-time versus Augusta including 3-2-1 this season. The Lynx enter this week three points shy of a playoff spot in sixth place in the Southeast Division with 72 points and a 32-23-8 record including 21-8-3 at home and 11-15-5 on the road. They have played the fewest games, 63, in the ECHL. RW TYLER WILLIS leads the League with 314 penalty minutes. Augusta will visit the Richmond Renegades Wednesday and host the Pee Dee Pride Friday.
SUN MAR 24th at CHR, 6 p.m.: This will be the seventh and final meeting, the third in Charlotte, this season. The Grrrowl are 16-7-2 all-time versus the Checkers including 3-3 this season. Charlotte enters this week in second place in the Northeast Division with 84 points and a 37-17-10 record including 23-6-5 at home and 14-11-5 on the road. LW BRANDON DIETRICH leads the Checkers and is tied for tenth in the ECHL with 72 points. Charlotte will visit the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies Wednesday, South Carolina Friday and the Columbia Inferno Saturday.
THE ECHL's KELLY CUP PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Grrrowl enter this week two points ahead of Columbia, three ahead of Pee Dee, four ahead of the Florida Everblades, five ahead of South Carolina and eight ahead of Augusta. The Grrrowl can clinch a playoff spot with any combination of nine standings points gained by themselves or lost by either South Carolina or eight standings points lost by Florida. The Grrrowl can clinch the Southeast Division championship with any combination of eleven points gained by themselves or lost by Pee Dee and ten points lost by Columbia and Augusta, nine points lost by South Carolina, and eight points lost by Florida. The top five teams in the division will qualify for the KELLY CUP PLAYOFFS.
GRRROWL TEAM LEADERS
LW ROGER TRUDEAU has 30 goals, LW MARTIN MASA has 38 assists and 60 points and is +16, LW DAVID KACZOWKA has 178 penalty minutes, and C JONATHAN ROY and LW STEVE RYMSHA have played in 63 games.
GRRROWL SPECIAL TEAMS
The Grrrowl enter this week tied for 16th in the ECHL on the power play (62 for 348, 17.8%) and fourth in the League on the penalty kill (273 for 319, 85.6%). They have scored nine shorthanded goals and have allowed five.

Last week's losses were the first back-to-back losses in regulation for the Grrrowl since November 29th and 30th...they were 27-10-3 in the 40 games in between'saturday's loss marked also marked the first time this season the Grrrowl lost in regulation on the road following a loss...they are 16-4-1 following a loss including 8-1-1 on the road-this week's games will be the first of a stretch in which the Grrrowl will play four out of five at home and four out of seven at home to finish the regular season...the Grrrowl are 27-14-6 versus Southern Conference opponents including 18-3-2 at home-they are 23-14-5 versus Southeast Division opponents including 15-3-2 at home and 4-0-1 versus Southwest Division opponents including a perfect 3-0-0 at home...the Grrrowl are 10-8-0 versus Northern Conference opponents including 6-3 on the road...they are 10-7 versus Northeast Division opponents including 6-3 on the road.

C SEAN VENEDAM (2g,3a) and LW ZDENEK BLATNY (1g,4a) are on five-game scoring streaks...Blatny is also on a four-game assist streak (4a)?D SIMON TREMBLAY (3a) is on a three-game assist streak and has helpers (5a) in four of the last five games?D/F DAVID BELL (2g) is on a two-game goal streak?LW MARTIN MASA (2a) is on a two-game assist streak...the Grrrowl have outshot the opposition in eight straight games and ten of the last 11.

The first one-thousand fans to enter this Saturday?s home game versus Augusta will receive a free puck courtesy of Bell South, the Real Yellow Pages and Charter Communications. If the Grrrowl beat Augusta this Saturday, fans can exchange their ticket stubs from the game at the BI-LO Center box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to the Tuesday March 26th home game against Pee Dee. Tuesday March 26th will also be the last of six ?Grrrowl Season Ticket Holder Exchange Nights? where unused season tickets from games already played can be exchanged at the BI-LO Center box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to that game. The Grrrowl and Wild Wing Café are also organizing a fan bus for the Saturday March 30th game versus South Carolina in North Charleston. PRACTICE SCHEDULE
