Week in Review:

3/14/02 Columbia 3 Columbus 1
After a scoreless first period, Mike Legg put Columbia on the board, 1:52 into the second period. Columbus' only goal came 4:59 into the third period, to tie the game at one apiece. Shawn Wansborough scored the game-winner at 11:35 with assists from Shane Campbell and Mike Legg. Matt Ulwelling scored an empty-net goal to seal the game for the Inferno.

3/15/02 Columbia 4 Richmond 1
Richmond opened the scoring at 7:42 of the first period with a goal by Troy Lake. Mike Legg scored his 23rd of the season to tie the game at one les than five minutes into the first, with assists from Regan Darby and Shane Campbell. Joel Trottier scored to give the Inferno a one-goal advantage with 0:23 left in the first period. Barrie Moore scored the only goal of the second period at 10:23 with passes from Trottier and Ryan Bonni. Matt Ulwelling scored his second empty netter of the week to help the Inferno win over the Renegades.

3/16/02 Columbia 2 Augusta 3 (SO)
David Wilkie scored his first of the night at 6:52 of the first period. Joel Trottier answer his goal at 11:40, with the assist from Rejean Stringer to tie the game. Clint Way scored, unassisted, from the top of the right faceoff circle to put the Inferno ahead by one. David Wilkie tied the game for Augusta with his second the night at 3:06 of the second period. After a tough battle through regulation and overtime, Tyson Holly scored the game-winner in the shootout for Augusta.

Team Notes:
The Inferno finished the week with a record of 33-21-12 (78 points), second place in the Southeast Division.

Players:
The Inferno continued their balanced attack with Mike Legg (2g-1a),Joel Trottier (1g-2a), and Barrie Moore each contributing three points in three games.

This will be the last meeting between Columbia and Columbus. Columbia leads the series 5-2-0. Columbia won the last meeting at home on March 14th

vs. Charlotte Sat. March 23, 2002 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum
Columbia faces off against Charlotte for the fourth time this season. The Inferno leads the series 2-1-0 and face Charlotte one more time to end their inaugural season on Saturday, March 30th.

Charity:
The Columbia Inferno wore special St. Patrick Day jersey last weekend and auctioned them off to benefit the St. Patrick's Five Points Committee charities. It was a two-day auction that raised over $11,000. Dennis Vial's jersey took the top bid at $1575.00

Community:
Coach White will be with John Avery for Monday's coach's show at the Holiday Inn Coliseum at 5pm on Assembly Street. Coach White will be discussing the run towards the playoffs, last week's games, and taking calls from the fans.

Inferno players and staff will be out at The Country Club at Woodcreek Farms on Tuesday, March 19th to play in a golf tournament with fans to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
