Bakersfield Condors News Release
Condors raise over $18,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Upcoming week of March 18th - March 24th :
· Monday, March 18th - Cal, the baby Condor along with Condors staff were at the Amtrak Station at 7:00am this morning promoting Amtrak's newest service to San Francisco.
· Monday, March 18th - Tonight is the 4th Annual Charity Tip-A-Condor Dinner at Wood'ys Grill Bar & Deck. All tips collected as well as 10% of your food bill, will be donated to a fund set up to raise money for Wendi Lund, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in December. Wendi is the girlfriend of Idaho Steelheads winger Derek Paget, and lives with him in Boise. The funds will help her receive an expensive, alternative treatment, not covered by insurance, and focuses on rebuilding the damage to her immune system that chemotherapy has caused. Without successful treatment, she was given four to six months to live. Tonight's festivities will take place from 5:30-8:00pm and will feature the Bakersfield Condors as your servers. Wood'ys Grill Bar & Deck is located at 5555 Truxtun Avenue.
· Tuesday, March 19th - The Bakersfield Condors will have a booth at the "Your Money Counts" Expo 2002. The event will take place at the Holiday Inn Select located at 801 Truxtun Avenue from 1:00 - 7:00pm.
· Tuesday, March 19th - Condors players and staff will be at Richland Intermediate for a Celebrity Reading appearance at 1:30pm. Richland Intermediate is located in Shafter at 331 North Shafter Ave.
· Tuesday, March 19th - Condors players and staff will be at Good Shepherd School for a Celebrity Reading appearance. Good Shepherd School is located at 7220 Rosedale Hwy.
· Wednesday, March 20th - Tonight is Fiesta Wednesday and a chance to see the Bakersfield Condors take on the Tacoma Sabercats. Complimentary children's tickets are available at designated locations courtesy of Univision 39 & Power 102.9, watch and listen for details. You can also receive a free terrace ticket with the donation of a new or gently used children's book, as tonight is also the Cesar E. Chavez Book Drive. The books will be donated to children of farm workers by the California Highway Patrol and Department of Housing & Community Development. Tonight is also the last T.H.I.N.K (Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge) night of the season. T.H.I.N.K is a program sponsored by 101.5 KGFM, Paramount Farms, AFSA Data Corp. & ARRC Technology, that allows students to earn tickets to games through exceptional performance in school. The game begins at 7:00pm with doors opening at 6:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
· Thursday, March 21st - "Condors Corner" will be broadcast from the Q Street Lounge inside the Holiday Inn Select. The show will be from 6:00pm - 7:00pm and broadcast on KGEO 1230-AM. "Condor's Corner" is hosted by play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Bartl, and features Head Coach Paul Kelly along with select Condors players.
Week in review, March 11th - March 17th:
· Saturday, March 16th - Cal, the baby Condor and Condors staff were at Cingular Wireless for a Smooth Jazz 97.7 live broadcast.
· Saturday, March 16th - Colonel Claw'd and Condors staff were at 3-Way Chevrolet at the Automall, celebrating their one year anniversary.
· Saturday, March 16th - The Bakersfield Condors raised $18,500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Assocation by auctioning off St. Patricks Day game worn jerseys after Saturday's game against the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
Condors Droppings:
· The Colonel Clawd's Kids Club will be having their last Pizza Party of the year on Monday, April 1st at John's Incredible Pizza, beginning at 5:30pm. Hang out with Condors players and eat all the pizza you'd like. The tickets are $6.00 each for Kids Club members and their guests. Tickets can be purchased at the Bakersfield Condors office next to the box office at Centennial Garden or at the game on Friday, March 29th.
· March's website auction of the month features dinner with two of your favorite players plus you and a guest. Log onto to place your bid. Proceeds go to benefit the American Red Cross -Kern County Chapter.
