Fresno Falcons Weekly Update

Fresno Falcons News Release

FALCONS RUN UP AGAINST HOT GOALTENDERS
The Fresno Falcons played well enough to win all three of their games last week but were stymied by two hot opposing goaltenders to finish the week with a record of 1-1-1.

The club completed a five-game road trip in Tacoma against the Sabercats last Wednesday and despite outshooting the 'Cats, 43-20, still fell in a shootout, 4-3. Tacoma netminder David Goverde put the clamps on the Fresno offense after the Falcons bolted to a 3-1 lead. Fresno lost in a shootout for the eighth time in 11 tries this season.

The Falcons then opened a five-game home stand this past weekend with a pair of games against the Northern Division-leading Idaho Steelheads. Joe Frederick and Jason Weaver helped lead the way to a 6-1 victory on Friday night with two goals and four assists, respectively. Steelheads goaltender Blair Allison would avenge a rough outing the night before by stopping 36 of the 37 shots he faced on Saturday. Although Fresno outshot the Steelheads, 37-21, Kris Porter was the lone Falcon to score as Idaho rode the back of Allison to the 4-1 win.

Fresno saw a five-game unbeaten streak snapped with the loss Saturday and fell to 26-29-8 on the season with 60 points. They remain in third place in the Southern Division, five points ahead of the fourth-place Bakersfield Condors and 13 points behind the second-place Long Beach Ice Dogs.

SEASON TICKET HOLDERS SKATE WITH THE FALCONS
The entire Falcons roster will be on hand tonight to join the team's season ticket holders in a "Skate with the Falcons" at Gateway Ice Center. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Falcons' practice facility, located at Clinton and Marks just off Highway 99. Admission is free for season ticket holders and skate rentals cost $2 a pair. The players will hop off the ice at 8 p.m. and be available to sign autographs for the remainder of the evening.

ACES TREK TO TOWN THIS WEEKEND
Fresno continues a stretch of 10 straight games against teams from the Northern Division with a pair of games this coming weekend against the Anchorage Aces. Friday night the Falcons will be giving away wall clocks to the first 1,500 fans in attendance courtesy of All Valley Disposal, and on Saturday the first 1,500 fans will receive Beanie Freddies compliments of Sierra Tel Internet.

The face-off for each game starts at 7:30 p.m. while the live radio broadcast on 103.1 FM, The Mountain Cat, kicks off at 7:20 p.m. with the Coors Light Pre-game Show. Tickets are still available for both contests at the Selland Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Fresno will resume practice tomorrow and continue through Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. each day at Selland Arena.
