Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned goaltender Jason LaBarbera to the Monarchs on a conditioning assignment, Kings President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.

LaBarbera, 25, has appeared in 16 games for the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has posted an 8-6-2 record, a 3.10 goals-against-average and a .892 save-percentage. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound native of Burnaby, British Columbia, began the season with five consecutive wins to tie the franchise mark (held by Daniel Berthiaume) for most wins by a Kings goaltender to start a season.

Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the third-round (66th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, LaBarbera was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on August 2, 2005. In 21 career regular season NHL games with the Kings and Rangers, LaBarbera has a 9-8-2 record, a 3.38 goals-against-average and a .881 save-percentage.

The Monarchs host the Atlantic Division leading Portland Pirates at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:05 p.m.
