Albany Devils News Release
Lowell, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters will send a pair of players to the 2006 RBK Hockey AHL All-Star Classic this season, to be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 31 - February 1st. Center Keith Aucoin and defenseman Danny Richmond will represent Lowell on Team PlanetUSA. Both players are under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Aucoin, 27, has led the team in scoring for nearly the entire season, and currently leads the way with 15 goals, 28 assists and 43 points. The native of Chelmsford, Mass. has recorded a point on 40% of the Lock Monsters goals this season. He also leads the team with 14 multiple-point games and has more than twice the amount of points on the power play than his next closest teammate (22 points to 10points). Aucoin is also tied for the team lead with four multiple-goal outings, leads all active players on the roster with 91 shots on goal, and has gone 5-for-9 in shootouts. In his fifth year in the pro ranks, Aucoin graduated from Norwich University and has spent the majority of his career in the American Hockey League, skating for the last two campaigns with the Providence Bruins.
Richmond, 21, has been one of the team's leading scorers from the blueline all season and his 11 assists and 14 points lead all Lowell defenseman. The second-year player who hails from Chicago has already surpassed his point total from his rookie season in 2004-05, and has three multi-point games. Five of his points (2g-3a) have come with the man advantage and he ranks third on the club with 56 penalty minutes as well. Richmond got his first taste of National Hockey League action earlier this season when he spent two weeks with the Hurricanes, playing in seven games with no points and two penalty minutes.
The Monsters return to home ice to face the Providence Bruins on Saturday, January 14th. The first 2,500 fans will get a Lock Monsters winter cap, courtesy of TD Banknorth.
