January 11, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that rookie center Ryan Vesce has been named to the Planet USA roster for the 2006 American Hockey League All-Star Game to be played on Wednesday, February 1 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Vesce is in his first professional season and is currently second on the Falcons in scoring collecting 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points in 37 games this season. Vesce, who is ranked fifth in the AHL in rookie scoring, made his AHL debut on October 8, 2005 against the Portland Pirates and scored his first AHL goal on October 30 against the Philadelphia Phantoms.

The Lloyd Harbor, New York native was a finalist for the RBK Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month in November when he collected six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 14 games. Vesce signed with the Falcons this summer as a free agent after spending the 2004-05 campaign in Sweden.

Prior to his time in Sweden, Vesce completed an impressive four year collegiate career with the Cornell Big Red posting 46 goals and 82 assists for 128 points in 131 games played. During the 2002-03 season, Vesce led the Big Red in scoring as a junior with 19 goals and 26 assist for 45 points in 36 games. Vesce's 45 points marked the first time a Cornell player had reached the 40-point plateau since the 1995-96 campaign and he also became the first Big Red player since Joe Nieuwendyk to reach 100 career points during his junior season.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday, January 11 when they host the Hershey Bears at the MassMutual Center starting at 7:05 PM. All games can be heard live on the Falcons Hockey Network, WMAS AM 1450, as "The Voice" of the Falcons John Michael handles the play-by-play duties. All games can also be seen live through the B-2 Network for only $6.00.
