
P-Bruins Fall to River Rats 3-2

Albany, NY - The Providence Bruins fell to the Albany River Rats 3-2 Wednesday evening at the Pepsi Arena. The P-Bruins got goals from Nathan Robinson and Jason MacDonald. With the loss the P-Bruins are 19-15-1-1 on the season, 40 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
The P-Bruins scored early in the opening period with the River Rats on the power play. The P-Bruins cleared the zone and Robinson out raced Albany goaltender Frank Doyle to the puck. Before Doyle could get back in net Robinson backhanded the puck into the empty net to put the P-Bruins up 1-0. Providence took a 2-0 lead when MacDonald put home a rebound off a shot by Zdenek Blatny on a play set up by David Lundbohm. The River Rats cut the P-Bruins lead in half heading into the first intermission when Chris Minard scored his first AHL goal on assists from Jason Ryznar and Bobby Allen. Providence went into the intermission up 2-1.
After a scoreless second period the River Rats scored twice in the third period to go up 3-2 and win by the same score. Matt DeMarchi scored even strength at the 8:24 mark before Minard tallied the game winner even strength at the 9:15 mark.
Traylen stopped 35 of 38 shots for the P-Bruins, while Doyle stopped 28 of 30 shots for the River Rats. The P-Bruins were 0 for 6 on the power play, while Albany was 0 for 5 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins continue their four game road trip Friday, January 13 at the Portland Pirates, Saturday, January 14 against the Lowell Lock Monsters and Sunday, January 15 at the Manchester Monarchs. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 20 to face the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. The first 4,000 fans will receive FREE Providence Bruins hats courtesy of your Rhode Island Lottery.
