Bears blank Falcons 3-0 in Springfield

HERSHEY wins for the first time in 2006, downing the Springfield Falcons 3-0 at MassMutual Center Wednesday night.

The teams battled to a scoreless first period, with the BEARS outshooting the Falcons 10-6. In the second period, HERSHEY opened the scoring when Tomas Fleischmann tipped a Mike Green center point shot into the back of the net at the 4:05 mark. The BEARS would run the score to 2-0 when Louis Robitaille picked up his sixth of the year at 9:19. In the third period, Chris Bourque scored his sixth of the season at 1:18 to put the game away. Springfield would muster just five third period shots as Kirk Daubenspeck earned his second shutout of the season by making 23 saves.

The BEARS conclude the current four-game road trip Friday evening in Hartford against the Wolf Pack. Face-off at the Hartford Civic Center is set for 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY is at home Saturday to take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:00 p.m., with tickets available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
