Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators, who typically spend their weekends dishing up bone-crushing hits and highlight-reel goals, will step off the ice this Sunday, Jan. 15, to spend a fun-filled afternoon at the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton serving spaghetti dinners to patrons during a benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

The second annual Spaghetti on Ice will begin at 1 p.m. with seating for the first 300 people who purchase tickets in advance of the event. Anyone who purchases a ticket at the door on Sunday will be seated at 2:30 p.m. For $15, each guest attending will receive a spaghetti dinner served by the players and a commemorative hockey puck. Admission is free for all children age five or younger and all event proceeds will be donated to MDA.

Tickets can be purchased at the Muscular Dystrophy Association office at 1249 Upper Front Street in Binghamton, inside the Binghamton Senators' executive office on the third floor of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, or by calling (607) 723-7431.

Last year's Spaghetti on Ice raised more than $10,000 for the MDA. The organization hopes to raise more than $15,000 this year said Lynn Wells, the district director for MDA.

"The funds raised from this event will enable MDA to help local families with clinic visits, summer camps and research," added Wells.

Throughout the event, the Senators will participate in a complimentary autograph session. Those in attendance can also have a picture taken with the players. Bring your own camera or pay $1 for a Polaroid photo. Other activities will include a silent Senators jersey auction and a "fisherman's auction." Commemorative t-shirts will also be on sale.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency - a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.

Be sure to check out the B-Sens in action this weekend as the Springfield Falcons visit the Arena on Friday and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers make their second trek of the season to Binghamton on Saturday. Call (607) 722-SENS for ticket information.
