Rivermen forward earns All-Star berth

Peoria, IL (January 11, 2006) - The American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that Peoria Rivermen left wing Peter Sejna (SAY-nuh) has been selected to play in the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Sejna will participate in the event as a member of the AHL PlanetUSA All-Star Team.

Sejna, 26, will be making his first all-star appearance of any kind. In 31 games played for the Rivermen this season, he has scored 41 points on 17 goals and 24 assists. The 5-9, 197-pounder has also recorded an even plus/minus rating, 12 penalty minutes, 13 power-play goals, two game-winning goals, four first goals, 142 shots on goal, and a 12.0 percent shooting percentage. Among all AHL players, Sejna now stands tied for seventh position in points (41), ranks first in power-play goals (13), places second in shots on goal (142), and shares the third-best total of power-play points (26). He leads the Rivermen in assists (24), power-play goals (13), first goals (4), and shots (142) and shares the team lead in points (41).

A native of Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, Sejna has enjoyed two stints in the National Hockey League (NHL) so far in 2005-06 with the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues. In six outings as a Blue this season, he has posted one goal, one assist, a plus-one rating, four penalty minutes, and nine shots. Sejna has skated in 27 career NHL tilts and recorded four goals, three assists, eight minutes in penalties, three power-play goals, and 48 shots. On April 6, 2003, he signed with the Blues as an undrafted free agent.

The 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, home of the AHL's Manitoba Moose, and will feature the top young talent in the AHL. The event gets underway on Tuesday, January 31, with the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (CST). The annual AHL All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, February 1, and will be televised live in North America.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
