Dallas sends left winger

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have loaned left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist to their American Hockey League (AHL) club, the Iowa Stars.

The 26-year old Tjarnqvist has appeared in 12 games for Iowa this season. In those 12 contests, he has notched nine goals and two assists: 12(9/2/11). He registered Iowa's third short-handed goal of the season on December 3rd. The 6-2, 196-pound winger has skated in 17 games for Dallas this season, recording one goal, one assist, and eight penalty minutes: 17(1/1/2)8.

A third round selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, he skated in 46 games in his native Sweden, recording 17 points last season, while his 2003-04 AHL numbers reflect 60 games, with 15 goals and 13 assists: 60(15/13/28).

NEXT THREE GAMES: The Iowa Stars are in Houston for games on Thursday and Friday before returning home to Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday, January 14th to host the Cleveland Barons.
