Moose Sign Bayda to AHL Contract

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have signed forward Ryan Bayda to a standard AHL players contract.

Bayda, 24, has played in 20 games with the Moose this season, recording four goals and five assists for nine points and 24 penalty minutes. He signed a pro tryout deal with the Moose after recovering from a knee injury suffered in last spring's Calder Cup playoffs while with the Lowell Lock Monsters. Last season, the Saskatoon, SK native appeared in all 80 games with the Lock Monster, scoring 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points and 91 penalty minutes. In his career, Bayda has played in 190 games in the AHL with Manitoba and Lowell, scoring 36 goals and 80 assists for 116 points and 175 penalty minutes.

Bayda has also played 69 career games in the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes where he scored seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points and 38 penalty minutes.

Bayda was originally Carolina's third round choice, 80th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
