PLAYER OF THE WEEK – G MICHAEL GARNETT

The rookie goaltender stopped 30 of 32 shots in Friday's win over the Charlotte Checkers at the BI-LO Center. Garnett was a 3rd round pick (80th overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native appeared in 67 games (27-34-4) with the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) last season.

COACH JOHN MARKS SAID: On the games... I was obviously pleased with our win over Charlotte and the play of Michael Garnett on Friday. But Saturday showed me how far we need to go to be considered a legitimate contender. Pee Dee is the class of our division right now. They capitalized on our mistakes and that was the difference on Saturday. Growth is the key... as long as we learn from our mistakes and continue to grow, we should be okay."
