Published on November 4, 2002 under ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
After a full eight days off the Falcons returned to action this past Tuesday night with a 6-4 victory over the San Diego Gulls. The club then lost on Friday to the Bakersfield Condors, 4-3, before rebounding with a stellar effort on Saturday in a 6-2 defeat of the Idaho Steelheads.
Fresno is now 5-2-0 this season with both losses coming at the hands of the Condors. Their 10 points place the Falcons in third as the week begins, but they own the league's best winning percentage at .714.
NINE-GAME HOMESTAND REACHES ITS CONCLUSION
The Falcons complete the longest homestand in franchise history this week beginning with tonight's clash against the struggling Anchorage Aces at 7 p.m. Fresno then gets a chance to avenge its only two losses of the season when the Condors make a return visit to Selland on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for all three games at the Selland Arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations.
GREG SPENRATH RETIREMENT TRIBUTE
Both matches against the Condors this Friday and Saturday will be devoted to honoring the retirement of Falcons Assistant Coach Greg Spenrath. The first 1,500 fans on Friday will receive Greg Spenrath t-shirts courtesy of Alpha Designs and the first 2,000 patrons on Saturday will receive a Spenrath bobblehead compliments of AT&T Wireless.
Saturday night's game will also feature a pre-game ceremony to retire Spenrath's #27 jersey. The #27 will join the #1 worn by former Falcons goaltender Jeff Ferguson and the 2001-2002 Taylor Cup Championship banner in the rafters at Selland.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
The Falcons will practice at Gateway Ice Center at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They will shift back to Selland for their pre-game skates at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
