Dayton Bombers News Release

Forward Ryan Vince deflected defenseman Mike Vellinga's point shot past goaltender Mike Valley 3:57 into overtime to lift the Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team to a 3-2 victory over the Wheeling Nailers at the Wheeling Civic Center Sunday night. The Bombers (3-6-2) are 2-0-2 in their last four contests.

The Bombers trailed 2-1 in the third period when Zenon Kenopka of Wheeling put his team ahead with a power play goal at 13:45. However, the Bombers rallied to tie the game with goaltender Andrew Allen pulled for an extra attacker. Jamie Ling sent a perfect pass across the ice to Torrey DiRoberto, who scored his second goal in as many games and fourth of the season with just 1:19 to play in regulation.

Before the decisive goal by Vince, the Bombers were forced to kill off a delay of game penalty assessed to the club with less than a minute to play in the third period. The penalty carried over into the overtime session.

The Bombers scored the first goal of the game at 4:47 of the first period when Matt Dzieduszycki stole the puck at center, split the Wheeling defense, and beat Valley up high. Michel Ouellet notched a power play goal for the Nailers at 10:44 of the second period to even the score.

Goalie Andrew Allen recorded his first win of the season for the Bombers with a 24-save effort.
