Drakensjo Named Player of the Month
November 4, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
FRESNO, Calif. â Winger Carl Drakensjo has earned Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Player of the Month honors for October.
Drakensjo scored twice and assisted on two other goals in eight games during the month of October while maintaining a +4 rating on a team that managed just one victory while being outscored by a 2:1 ratio. His plus/minus rating consistently ranked among the top five in the West Coast Hockey League in October, and he began the new month with a goal and an assist in Anchorage's final two games in Long Beach. Drakensjo joined the Aces after spending his first two professional seasons in Elmira, where he was a teammate of Anchorage goaltender Christian Soucy. He will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to the Aces' first game against San Diego at Sullivan Arena on November 15th at 7:00 p.m.
The Aces were swept for the second straight weekend, this time in Long Beach, and have dropped seven consecutive games. Anchorage rallied on three separate occasions but came up short in a 4-3 loss Wednesday, then fell by scores of 5-2 and 7-1 on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. Yvan Corbin scored twice and added two helpers in the series but had his seven-game point-scoring streak snapped Saturday. Corbin and Dean Larson are tied for second in the WCHL scoring race with 13 points. Corbin's seven goals and Larson's eight assists also are tied for second-most in those respective categories. Ruslan Batyrshin ranks fourth in the WCHL with 69 minutes in penalties.
Anchorage (1-9) will try to snap its seven-game slide tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. AST against the Taylor Cup champion Fresno Falcons, who improved their record to 5-2 with a 6-2 rout of Idaho Saturday. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and over the internet at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
