Garner Named ECHL Goalie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jackson's Tyrone Garner is the East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week for October 28 to November 3.

Garner started three games in three days going 3-0-0 with a 2.33 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.

Selected in the fourth round (83rd overall) by the New York Islanders in the 1996 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Garner picked up his first win of the season on Friday, making 32 saves in a 5-4 win over Columbia. He made 29 saves in a 4-3 win against Baton Rouge on Saturday, and then had 27 saves and picked up his first shutout of the season with a 2-0 win at Baton Rouge on Sunday.

Garner and Simon Gamache were chosen Co-Most Valuable Players after helping Greenville win the 2002 Kelly Cup Championship. Garner was 12-2 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .927 save percentage in the postseason, and led all goaltenders with 12 wins and 417 saves.
