Desjardins Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Cedrick Desjardins has been named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month. Desjardins, 22, becomes the first player in the Cincinnati Cyclones ECHL history win the award. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Desjardins, 22, a native of Edmunson, New Brunswick, turned in a 5-0 mark during the month, a .957 save percentage and a 1.40 goals against average. Cedrick started the month tying his season high with 39 saves in a 4-1 win at Wheeling on Feb. 1 and turned aside 29 shots in an 8-3 win against Mississippi on Feb. 6. He made 25 saves in a 4-1 win against Mississippi on Feb. 9 before again stopping 39 shots to record his league-leading fifth shutout in a 7-0 win at Trenton on Feb. 15. He was recalled to Hamilton of the American Hockey League after making 23 stops in a 5-2 win against Johnstown on Feb. 22.

This season, Desjardins leads the ECHL in goals against average at 1.92. He has a 16-4 record with an ECHL-best .934 save percentage and a league-high five shutouts. He has a club-record nine shutouts in his two seasons in the Queen City.

Cincinnati went 13-0 during the month, using three different goaltenders. The Cyclones are currently the leaders of the North Division with a 43-9-3 record and clinched a berth in the Kelly Cup playoffs.

The Cincinnati Cyclones play a pair of games at U.S. Bank Arena this weekend (Friday and Saturday) against North Division rival Reading. Face off both nights is at 7:30pm.
