Letter to our Supporters

March 5, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Columbia Inferno News Release

To all our dedicated Season Ticket Holders, Corporate Sponsors, and Fans:

As the Owners of your Columbia Inferno, we did not want to announce our plans for next season before being absolutely certain of what they were. However, with virtually no notice to us, the ECHL released a statement last Tuesday (February 26, 2008), of the closed business conducted at the mid-season meetings. We would have preferred to update all of you ourselves. We did not have any time to comment on what voluntary suspension might mean for the 2008-2009 season.

While it is not automatic, the Board of Governors did grant a voluntary suspension, which most importantly means that the franchise and team remain here. Although we have received at least four offers to sell the franchise, the goal remains to bring professional hockey back in the fall of 2009 in the new facility. However, even if the team does not play next season, the Inferno office and staff will be hard at work ensuring the team's stability and success for the long term.

We sincerely appreciate the optimism and continued support of our fans throughout this process. We ask you once again to stay positive, to support the team as we finish out this season, and to help us generate excitement for the bright future of hockey here in the Midlands.

Sincerely,

Ezra B. Riber, MD

Stephen A. Imbeau, MD
