Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, have acquired defenseman Gerard Miller from the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for goaltender Cody Rudkowsky.

Miller, 25, tallied four goals and 18 points, and registered a plus-16 rating in 32 games with the Cyclones. The fourth-year professional and Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. native has twice been loaned to the American Hockey League this season spending a two-game stint with the Hamilton Bulldogs and skating in one contest with the Binghamton Senators.

Miller enjoyed a breakout season in 2006-07 as a member of the Flint Generals of the former United Hockey League leading all Generals defensemen and finishing fourth among UHL blue-liners in scoring with 13 goals and 57 points in 73 games. His efforts earned him a selection to the Eastern Conference roster that participated in the 2007 UHL All-Star Game.

Miller began his professional career in 2004-05 in Germany following a three-year collegiate career at the University of Vermont. He has recorded 25 goals, 79 assists, 104 points, and 369 penalty minutes in 197 career games.

Rudkowsky departs as the last remaining member of the 2006-07 RoadRunners' team that captured the club's first ever Kelly Cup playoff berth. The Willingdon, Alberta native and nine-year professional posted a record of 9-20-3 in 33 games this season with a 3.89 goals against average and a .897% save percentage. Rudkowsky leaves Phoenix with a two-year record of 19-42-5 in 71 games with a 3.68 goals against average and a .901% save percentage.
