Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (March 5, 2008) - The Trenton Devils have announced that they have teamed up with the New Jersey Education Association for their annual book drive during their contest with the Elmira Jackals on Friday, March 7. Local children's author Christine C. Kaputa will also be on hand to showcase and raffle off copies of her new book, Bad Kitty!.
The "Cat in the Hat," of Dr. Seuss fame, will be present at the game to drop the puck during the opening ceremonies.
Fans can bring in new or gently-used books to section 114, where representatives from the Devils and NJEA will collect them to donate to Mercer County schools.
Kaputa launched her Read to Succeed program throughout the state last month. The author donated 50 autographed copies of her newly published children's book, Bad Kitty!, to elementary school libraries throughout New Jersey.
Both Kaputa and Nicole G. B. Leidemer (Illustrator) are New Jersey residents and several Central Jersey schools were selected for the Read to Succeed initiative, including Academy Learning Center (Monroe), Alexander E.S. (Hamilton), Langtree E.S. (Trenton), Our Lady of Sorrows School (Mercerville), St. Paul School (Princeton), Stokes E.S. (Trenton), and University Heights/H.D. Morrison E.S. (Mercerville).
The Trenton Devils return to Sovereign Bank Arena to begin a three-game homestand with a contest against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, March 7th at 7:30pm. Full and partial ticket plans for the 2007-08 season are available by calling 609-599-9500.
