Statement Issued Regarding Suspension of Pat Bateman
March 5, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has announced left wing Pat Bateman has been recalled to Springfield and subsequently placed on suspension.
Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki issued the following statement regarding the suspension of Bateman:
"Pat Bateman was involved in an off-ice incident with Ryan Geris where Pat was found to be in violation of team policy. Pat exhibited behavior that was disruptive, inappropriate and he accepted full responsibility for his actions while understanding the consequences that come with his conduct.
Ryan was not in violation of team policy in the incident but suffered injuries that have made him unable to play for the remainder of the season.
We've made it clear as an organization that players are to behave and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and that inappropriate conduct will not tolerated. Furthermore, we fully appreciate the help that our AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons have provided in this process with their full support and understanding the serious nature of this situation."
