Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH- The American Conference Champion Dayton Bombers General Manager Don MacAdam and Head Coach Bill McDonald announced today rookie forward Josh Sciba ("Skee-bah") has been acquired from the Las Vegas Wranglers for future considerations.
Sciba, a 23-year-old native of Westland, Michigan, has spent 22 games with the Wranglers where he has tallied six goals and one assist. He scored his second power play goal of the season last night against Stockton. The five-foot-eleven-inch Sciba opened the 2007-08 season with Bakersfield, where he netted one goal in four games.
"Josh is a guy we've been trying to get all season," coach McDonald said. "Las Vegas is a powerhouse in the league, so we're fortunate to get a guy like this."
Prior to turning pro, Sciba played at Notre Dame with fellow Dayton forward Mike Walsh. He saw action in 141 career games with the Irish and had 72 career points (38g,34a) and was whistled for 78 PIM.
The Bombers are in the midst of a 7-game road trip and are 3-1-0 thus far. Sciba is expected to be in the Bombers lineup for tomorrow night's game at Charlotte.
"We've been caught by the injury bug lately so our goal is to get through this trip and come away with points," McDonald said. "Josh will bring an offensive pop to the lineup."
The Bombers return to action at the Nutter Center on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 against the Trenton Devils; and Sunday, March 16 against the Cincinnati Cyclones for a three-day St. Patrick's Day weekend! The Bombers will wear specialty jerseys that will be up for bid on Saturday night (available for pick up after the game on Sunday) at a live post-game auction on the flight deck. Green beer will also be available throughout the arena! Also, Friday is Kid's Night where kids 12 and under get in FREE with the purchase of an adult Silver Level ticket at the box office.
