SpongeBob Squarepants brings his nautical nonsense to The Nest Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors are back in The Nest on Saturday, March 8 as they take on the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, SpongeBob Squarepants will leave his pineapple under the sea to hang out with fans at The Nest, courtesy of Bright House Networks, 101.5 KGFM and Diamond Technologies. SpongeBob will greet fans on the concourse before the game and will be available for photos in the Condors Photo Booth during the first and second intermission. Over 8,000 fans have attended each of SpongeBob's three previous visits to The Nest, so get there early to enjoy all the entertainment.

Saturday's game is also a Bright House Networks Family Night. Bright House Networks subscribers will receive $7.00 admission per person by presenting the coupon available in their cable bill to the Rabobank Arena Box Office.

During the second intermission, one lucky fan will have three chances to win a Condors jersey by making a shot from center ice, courtesy of Farmers Insurance. Also during the second intermission, fans will have the chance to win the Chuck-A-Puck grand prize, a season-high $700, by tossing a Chuck-A-Puck into the hockey helmet at center ice.

Following the game, Condors players Matt Hanson and Mike Hofstrand will be at the Holiday Inn Select Autograph Booth, located behind section 110. Hanson and Hofstrand will arrive at the booth approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the game to meet fans and sign autographs.

This Saturday is the 4th Annual Guns and Hoses Game, where Kern County law enforcement officers take the ice against firefighters from the Kern County and Bakersfield Fire Departments. This annual charity game, held at Rabobank Arena, will benefit two local organizations. The firefighters are supporting Links for Life in memory of Mary Ann Walz, who lost her life to breast cancer. The law enforcement officers will be raising money for the Bakersfield Police Activities League.

To purchase tickets for the Guns and Hoses Game, please contact Garret Drolen with the Kern County Fire Department at 873-5681 or Chris Bagby with the Bakersfield Police Department at 378-2066. By purchasing tickets to the Guns and Hoses Game, spectators also receive admission to the Condors 7 p.m. home game.

March Monday Madness continues on Monday, March 10 when the Condors face off against the Steelheads for the second straight game. Monday is Extinct Team Night, fans wearing jerseys of a professional sports team that no longer exists will receive $1.00 admission to the game. Also, the first 2,000 fans on Monday will receive the second magnet of the five-piece March Monday Madness Magnet Collectors Series, featuring Tim Konsorada. Don't forget, Monday is a Mucho Season Ticket Giveaway for every goal the Condors score, one fan will win season tickets to the 2008-09 season.

Saturday's game will be televised live on Bright House Networks Channel 21, and re-aired Sunday at 7 p.m. Each televised game this season will be available to digital cable subscribers via Bakersfield On Demand (channel 300) beginning the Tuesday after the original air date.

Prior to Saturday and Monday's games, the Condors are on the road against the Phoenix RoadRunners on Thursday, March 6 and the Las Vegas Wranglers on Friday, March 7.
