Inferno shore up defense

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 5, 2008)-The Columbia Inferno have acquired defensemen AJ Bozoian and Eric Lundberg and forward Jeremy Schenderling after a series of trades, head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.

The Inferno first received defensemen Chris Brooks and Jeremy Swanson from the Wheeling Nailers for future considerations.

Swanson was then traded to the Cincinnati Cyclones for Bozoian and forward Travis Fuller.

Brooks, Fuller and forward Anthony Battaglia were then traded to the Augusta Lynx for Lundberg and Schenderling.

Bozoian (BOZE-ian), 25, has split the 2007-08 season between the ECHL and Central Hockey League, earning one assist and 10 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Cyclones and three points (one goal, two assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Corpus Christi Rayz of the CHL. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Brownstown, Mich., has 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) and 67 penalty minutes in 107 career games in the former United Hockey League with Fort Wayne and Motor City. Prior to turning pro, Bozoian had two assists and eight penalty minutes in 20 career NCAA games with Niagara University and Wayne State University.

Lundberg, 24, has 23 points (one goal, 22 assists) and 64 penalty minutes in 55 games with the Lynx this season. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Vernon, Conn., has 48 points (seven goals, 41 assists) and 189 penalty minutes in 151 career ECHL games, all with the Lynx. Lundberg also has two assists and 14 penalty minutes in 27 career American Hockey League games with Syracuse and Albany during the 2005-06 season.

Schenderling, 21, has 12 points (six goals, six assists) and 46 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Lynx this season, his first in the ECHL. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Langley, British Columbia, had 120 points (66 goals, 54 assists) and 295 penalty minutes in 301 career regular season games with Kootenay and Swift Current of the Western Hockey League from 2001-02 through 2006-07.

The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Thursday, March 6 to host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m.
