March 5, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - The ECHL trade deadline came and went on Tuesday, and Augusta Lynx Head Coach Bob Ferguson has announced that the Lynx have acquired forwards Anthony Battaglia and Travis Fuller along with defenseman Chris Brooks from Columbia Inferno, in exchange for defenseman Eric Lundberg and forward Jeremy Schenderling. "I felt it was a must for us to try and increase our offensive production having scored only 12 goals in our last 8 games," said Ferguson. "It was tough to give up someone with the loyalty and quality like an Eric Lundberg, but I believe this trade was essential to our success as we prepare for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs."

Anthony Battaglia, 28, comes to the Lynx after playing 50 games so far this season for the Columbia Inferno, scoring 22 points including five goals and 17 assists. The 6'0, 195 llbs. forward from Chicago, Illinois is currently in his sixth professional season. This will not be the first go around for Battaglia in a Lynx uniform. He spent the majority of the 2005-06 season with the Lynx, scoring 36 points in 49 games played during that season. Battaglia has also spent time with the Florida Everblades, Mississippi SeaWolves and Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL. He spent part of last season playing professional hockey in England for the Manchester Phoenix. Battaglia comes to the Lynx having scored three points in his last three games for Columbia.

Chris Brooks, 25, comes to the Lynx from the Columbia Inferno, but was traded earlier in the day to Columbia from the Wheeling Nailers. Brooks, a 6'4, 220 lbs. defenseman from New York, New York, has played in all 56 games for the Nailers this season, including both times against the Lynx on November 11th and February 6th. Brooks has seven points and 69 penalty minutes this season with Wheeling. Prior to turning pro in 2006, Brooks attended and played collegiately for Yale University.

Travis Fuller, 22, may be the most intriguing of the bunch. The 6'1, 193 lbs. forward from Whitney, Ontario, was acquired by the Lynx after the Inferno picked him up earlier in the day from the Cincinnati Cyclones. Fuller has posted good numbers this year with Cincinnati, scoring 25 points, including 13 goals in just 43 games played. Fuller was 3rd in rookie scoring on the Cyclones roster before his trade to Columbia and the Augusta. Prior to turning pro this season, Fuller played for seasons of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League for the Barrie Colts and Mississauga Ice Dogs. Last season, he averaged over a point per game for Mississauga.

The Augusta Lynx return home on Sunday, March 9th against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 4:05pm at the James Brown Arena. Sunday is Family Fun Day. Following the game there will be a full team autograph session on the ice for all fans in attendance! For tickets, call 706-724-4ICE or visit the Lynx website at www.augustalynx.com.
