Thunder Win Final ECHL Game in front of Sold Out Crowd

April 12, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder wrap up 10 years of ECHL hockey in Stockton with a huge win over their biggest rivals, the Bakersfield Condors, 4-1 Saturday night at Stockton Arena. The night began with a moving tribute to the Thunder captain Garet Hunt, as his #24 sweater was raised to the rafters in front of a sellout crowd of teary-eyed fans grateful of everything Hunt has done for the team and the community over the past seven seasons. Kent Simpson led the defensive effort from between the pipes, as he stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced, while Tyler Maxwell and Alex Mallet led the way offensively with 2 points each. Fittingly, Hunt buried the final goal in Stockton Thunder history, as he scored on the empty net with just 22 seconds left in the game. The Thunder finish 105 games against the Bakersfield Condors posting a 51-39-15 record against their biggest rival.
