Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- What a difference a couple of days makes. Coming off one of their worst games of the season on Tuesday night versus Peoria, the Milwaukee Admirals responded in a big way, scoring the first three goals of the game en route to a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Barons.
The Admirals got off to a quick start, scoring the first goal of the game for just the second time in their last six games. Rick Berry rifled a shot towards the net that was deflected and went past Cleveland goalie Dimitri Patzold at the 6:17 mark. The tally was Haydar's first since February 12th.
Haydar put the Ads up 2-0 with just eight seconds left in the first with his second goal of the game. With Milwaukee on the power play, Greg Classen forced a turnover in the neutral zone and fed Simon Gamache, who carried the puck into the zone on a two-on-one rush with Haydar. Gamache feathered a pass to his linemate who went top shelf to beat Patzold.
The Admirals added to their lead in the second period with a two goals. The first coming on a Chris Durno wrap-around goal at the 5:38 mark. Zack Stortini and Brandon Segal assisted on the play. After Cleveland closed the gap to 3-1 on a Josh Hennessy goal, Simon Gamache gave Milwaukee a three-goal lead again when he fired a wrister from the left circle that found the back of the net. Haydar and Classen picked up helpers.
Paul Brown finally got on the scoreboard when he lit the lamp at the 2:29 mark of the third period. It was his first goal or assist of the 05-06 season. Cleveland pulled to with-in two at 5-3 off consecutive goals by Shane Joseph and Tomas Plihal, but Brandon Segal iced the game for the Admirals with a power-play tally at 4:27.
Haydar led the Admirals offense with two goals and an assist, while Gamache notched a goal and an assist. Rick Berry and Classen each recorded two assists. Pekka Rinne stopped 24 shots to post his 25th win of the season.
The Admirals are off for the rest of the weekend and will play again on Tuesday night versus the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. For tickets to Friday's game fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
